Frequently asked questions
What are Fillers?
Fillers are made from hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring substance in your skin. It combines with water in your skin to instantly restore lost volume, smooth out lines and wrinkles or enhance lips.
What areas can I treat with Fillers?
Please be aware that NOT ALL INJECTORS ARE THE SAME!
Dr. Minuk is an expert in Fillers and Winnipeg’s MOST experienced injector.
Fillers are best used to:
- improve: looking tired, sad, angry or saggy
- improve your appearance: look more feminine or masculine, slimmer or more attractive
- Increase the youthful contours of the cheeks and add volume to loss of fat in various areas of the face
- provide facial structure and lift and improve facial proportions caused by genetics, or aging or sun damage
- smooth the lines around your mouth and nose
- enhance the size and shape of your lips and create proper facial balance
- reduce laugh or smile lines
- fill out cheeks
- elongate your chin
- improve jawline
How long do fillers last?
Fillers like Juvéderm™, Restylane, Teosyal, Revanesse or Belotero may provide lasting results for up to 1-2 years.
What are the possible side effects or complications?
Fillers are generally well tolerated. Possible side effects are mild to moderate in nature and lasts less than 7 days. They may include temporary skin reactions such as redness, tenderness and bruising. Nodules occurring several weeks after treatment are very infrequent and generally disappear spontaneously or with in-office treatments. Extremely rare complications are blockage of a blood vessel called ‘vascular occlusion’, or blindness in one eye (ask for details).
Skinboosters: What is it?
Skinboosters is a specialized filler treatment that improves skin hydration and luminosity through micro-skin-injections of a very soft hyaluronic acid filler into the skin (Restylane Vital or Vital Light and Juvederm Volite).
How does it work? How is Skinboosters different from other fillers?
Skin Boosters makes the skin look plumper, brighter and youthful.
Skinboosters reverse the skin aging process by reintroducing hyaluronic acid into the skin. Once injected, the water-loving hyaluronic acid molecules start to absorb water up to 200 times its weight and swell, bring about profound hydration to the skin from inside out. With dramatically improved hydration, the skin looks plumper, brighter and youthful.
Sculptra treatment in Winnipeg
Sculptra treatment by Dr. Minuk.
Sculptra injections stimulates production of collagen production and restores facial volume. A series of 3 treatments over 4-5 months adds volume to the aging face; hence reduces folds, facial lines & wrinkles. Sculptra can last for 2 years or longer.
Dr. Minuk is one of the first 20 Canadian MD’s trained in Sculptra application and is a trainer of Canadian MD’s in Sculptra use and technique.
Sculptra stimulates the skin to produce ‘collagen’ in areas it is injected. Skin thickens and is fuller. Wrinkles and lines diminish. Sculptra is safe and Health Canada & FDA approved.
What are the treatments like?
Treatments with Sculptra take 15-30 minutes and are performed personally by Dr. Minuk. Then, using a small needle, Sculptra is placed beneath the surface of the skin, in the area of your soft tissue loss.
How many treatments will I need?
During your consultation, the Dr. Minuk doctor will examine you and discuss the appropriate number of treatment sessions and estimate the amount of Sculptra you will require at each session. Most patients require 1-3 treatment sessions every 4-6 weeks. Some patients may also do best with a combination of Sculptra and another filling substance. Severe soft tissue loss usually requires three to six treatment sessions.
How soon will I see results?
The results from Sculptra are not immediate. Sculptra provides a gradual increase in soft tissue and skin thickness. However, the effects of Sculptra are long lasting. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects.
What results can be expected?
Excellent results can be achieved with Sculptra when treating all parts of the face including the forehead, around the eyes and lips, between the mouth and nose, and the cheeks. Sculptra can add volume to the cheeks, to folds around the chin, and to rings around the eyes. It is equally effective on the neck and lower neckline. It can also be used to treat the hands, knees and ankles as well as certain types of scars.
What is recovery like?
There is minimal if any ‘down-time’. You will experience mild facial swelling for a few days. Some patients have a few bruises from injections which also settles within a few days but is easily covered with make-up. Occasionally, small bumps may form in the treated area. Local massage to the area usually can treat these should they occur.
