WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling is a quick, nonsurgical treatment aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, sun damage, skin laxity and scarring. By penetrating the skins surface using tiny needles, a healing response is initiated to create both structural and cosmetic improvements. When conducted by an experienced provider like our highly trained technicians, these tiny punctures are safe and controlled. During the treatment, we use a Hyaluronic Acid serum to hydrate and heal the skin.

The results: smoother, firmer, and younger looking skin.

Microneedling can help with:

  • Smoothing of wrinkles and fine lines
  • Overall skin texture and tone
  • Reduction of scaring due to acne or injury
  • Sun damage and hyperpigmentation
  • Sagging skin
  • Expanded pores
  • Stretch marks

MICRONEEDLING + RADIO FREQUENCY

This dynamic duo creates a powerful treatment option for skin resurfacing with minimal downtime and maximal efficacy.

As mentioned before, by penetrating the skin’s surface using tiny needles, a healing response is initiated to create both structural and cosmetic improvements. Radiofrequency within the tiny needles amplifies the production of collagen and elastin significantly. The result is smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin that continues to improve over time. See our INFINI Laser page for more details.

MICRONEEDLING + PRP GROWTH FACTORS

Combining Microneedling with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) growth factors is commonly referred to as a Vampire Facial.

Activated platelets and growth factors found in blood plasma are derived through a simple blood draw, much like a routine blood test. It is then run through a centrifuge to separate the plasma and the platelets from red blood cells.

When this plasma is applied to the skin immediately following a microneedling treatment, the platelets are easily absorbed into the skin, repairing the tissue in that area. Platelets do this by releasing healing proteins that are called growth factors. When platelet levels are significantly higher than their normal concentration, the skin’s ability to rejuvenate is considerably increased. Collagen and elastin production is stimulated which thickens and tightens thinning skin, effectively smoothing wrinkles, and fine lines.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS AFTER A MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?

For optimal results, we recommend 3-6 treatments, four weeks apart. The process for collagen production begins 5 days following each treatment and continues slowly overtime, reaching its peak about twelve weeks post treatment.
*Result may vary.

HOW MUCH DOES MICRONEEDLING COST?

The cost of one Microneedling treatment is $400. We also offer a 4-pack for $1200 (for a savings of $100 per treatment).

HOW LONG IS A MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?

We start your treatment by applying a topical anesthetic that stays on your skin for 1 hours, the microneedling treatment itself takes approximately 30-45 minutes.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOLLOWING A TREATMENT?

Recovery time for Microneedling typically takes two to three days. While there is no downtime and you can resume most normal activities immediately, it is normal to experience redness and some swelling within the first 24-48 hours.

We recommend avoiding physical exercise, spas/saunas, hot showers, and sun exposure for 24 to 72 hours following treatment. Makeup can be applied the following day, however products with active ingredients such as Retinol or Glycolic Acid should be avoided for at least 72hrs.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Depending on what the Microneedling treatment was for, fine lines versus scarring for example, maintenance treatments may be recommended. Once you have completed your series, your technician will determine what maintenance regimen will best suit you based on your overall skin care goals. As a general rule, touch-up treatments for almost any skincare treatment can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRONEEDLING?

A good candidate for Microneedling is in good health (free from infection, fever, or a rash) and are looking to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, boost collagen, or treat scars from acne or injury. Talk to one of our highly trained technicians to see if Microneedling might work for you.

ARE MICRONEEDLING AND DERMAROLLING THE SAME?

While dermarolling is said to have its benefits, it is not the same as microneedling and here are two reasons why:

The needles that penetrate the skin in microneedling pens stamp the skin in a vertical motion. When using a dermaroller, the needles penetrate the skin at an angle as the device rolls across the surface. This increases the chance of damaging the skin, leading to more side effects and longer recovery time.

The needles in a dermaroller can also come in a variety of sizes and lengths which can be confusing to the average user, causing more harm than good. The microneedling pen is adjustable, allowing our trained technicians to provide a safe and effective treatment. Leave your skin in the hands of an expert.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS TO NOTE?

Due to nature of this treatment, there are a number or contraindications such as the presence of active acne, recent treatments with Accutane, history of eczema and psoriasis to name a few. During a consultation for Microneedling, Dermatologist Dr. Minuk will review any pertinent information to ensure that Microneedling is an appropriate treatment protocol for you.

DOES THE TREATMENT HURT AND ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

We always take measures to make your experience as pleasant as possible. To avoid any discomfort, a numbing cream is applied to prior to your treatment. It is normal to experience redness and some swelling within the first 24-48 hours.
