WHAT ARE WRINKLE RELAXERS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

Wrinkle relaxers, also known as neuromodulators, with brands such as Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and Nuceiva® are products injected into the facial muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines to relax those muscles. The ingredients in these products block the signal between nerve and muscle, thereby reducing its ability to contract and form wrinkles, creating a refreshed or relaxed appearance.* Treatment is quick, simple, and relatively painless, with no downtime.

*Individual results may vary.

HOW LONG IS A BOTOX TREATMENT?

Following an in-depth consultation with Dermatologist Dr. Earl Minuk, a treatment usually takes about ten to twenty minutes. Our specialists are very careful in the application of any aesthetic injectable to ensure a naturally rejuvenated result, not an unnatural look which can result from treatment in the wrong hands.

Treatment is relatively pain-free. Most clients compare it to a small pinch that lasts a moment.

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?

The effects of Botox are usually first noticed as early as 5 – 7 days following injection, with full results within two weeks. The effects of Botox generally last for 4 – 6 months before a repeat treatment is required

HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX COST?

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

A consultation at Victoria Park Medispa is complementary. During this visit you will meet with Dermatologist Dr. Earl Minuk, he will perform a complete review of your age, facial structure, skin type and the improvements you would like to see. He will then walk you through the various options that could have the greatest benefit for you, review before and after photos, and develop a treatment program together.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WRINKLE RELAXERS LIKE BOTOX, DYSPORT, AND NUCEIVA?

Dysport® and Nuceiva® are often compared to Botox® Cosmetic as these products all have similar properties. They form a category of aesthetic injectables all known as muscles relaxers. They are injected into the facial muscles that are responsible for wrinkles and fine lines and relax those muscles. Their ingredients, known as neuromodulators, block the signal between nerve and muscle, thereby reducing its ability to contract and form wrinkles.

Dermatologist Dr. Earl Minuk will review the product that best suits your requirements and sometimes will apply different product to different areas of the face for optimal result

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DERMAL FILLERS AND WRINKLE RELAXERS?

Over time, the muscles above and between your eyebrows repeatedly contract, causing wrinkles to form. Wrinkle relaxers are generally injected around these muscles. They relax the muscle for a period of four to six months so that the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced, creating a refreshed or relaxed appearance. The leading brands in this category include wrinkle relaxers like Botox®, Dysport®, and Nuceiva®.

Dermal fillers replace volume and structure lost through the aging process. The leading brands in this category include Juvederm®, Sculptra®, Belotero®, and Radiesse®. Dermal fillers are generally used to replace volume in lips and reduce the appearance of deep folds and lost volume in the face.

Wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers are often used in combination in different areas for an optimal result.  Dermatologist Dr. Earl Minuk is very careful in the application of these products to avoid a frozen look or an overly treated look which can be the result of their use in the wrong hands.

IS BOTOX® SAFE?

Botox® Cosmetic has been Health Canada approved since 2001 and has been used in millions of treatments on men and women.
