Where Juvéderm™ Can Be Used
What is the difference between Juvéderm and Juvéderm with lidocaine?
Juvéderm and other dermal fillers like Restylane can be uncomfortable. Dr. Minuk had minimized this discomfort by using local anesthesia to numb the treatment area. ALLERGAN, the makers of Juvéderm, have incorporated the lidocaine (numbing medicine) into the syringe so that treatment is now very comfortable.
Juvéderm™ is a soft replenishing injectable gel. Made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in your body, it adds volume to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, thinning skin and lips. Hyaluronic acid injections have also been shown to stimulate collagen production. The results are instant and natural-looking.
A Juvéderm™ treatment typically takes 10-20 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there's minimal recovery or downtime. So you can step into our SkinClinic for treatment and step right back into your life.
What to Expect:
Before you go: Dr. Minuk recommends that you avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS), for at least a week prior to treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
When you arrive: If this is your first visit, we will ask about your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you may be taking, and will tell you more about wrinkle treatment
Determining your treatment needs:
Dr. Minuk and his team will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds and determine your treatment. Pre-treatment photographs are usually taken so you can see the difference after treatment!
Before the procedure: Although anesthesia is not required, Dr. Minuk may use injectible anesthesia to numb the treatment area first.
The procedure: The procedure is quick and easy. The injection itself typically takes a few minutes but plan to be with us for approximately one hour.
After the procedure: For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. You may experience mild redness and swelling for a day or so. Any swelling can be reduced with an ice pack and by keeping the head elevated with a couple of pillows while sleeping.
Seeing results: You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients require only one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing or volume enhancement. However, results may vary and correction is temporary. Supplemental "touch-up" treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.
