Say goodbye to brown age spots, freckles and
irregular pigmentation with an
in office treatment
for unwanted skin discolourations ...

Finally there is an effective solution for freckles,
liver, age and brown spots on the face, hands and
body.

Dr. Earl Minuk's Laser, Skin and Hair Centre uses lasers and pulsed light
technology specifically designed to remove unwanted pigmentation from the skin
without damaging the skin itself leaving the skin refreshed and more youthful.

Questions you may have about Pigmented (brown spot) Lesion Removal:

What type of brown spots or pigmented lesions will the laser remove?

Our lasers are commonly used for removing brown age spots, liver spots,
freckles and many brown birthmarks. During your consultation with Dr. Minuk,
the specific type of lesion will be identified and a treatment plan will be
discussed. In fact, the majority of our clients / patients opt to have their
treatments immediately following consultation, as treatment is very quick, safe
and effective.

Why doesn't the treatment remove my normal skin pigmentation?

The laser or pulsed light was designed for its properties that selectively target
dark concentrations of melanin (coloured cells). If after the abnormal
concentrations of melanin were removed, treatment was continued on normal
skin, some whitening could occur. Your body's natural regeneration system
would replace the normal melanin after a period of time, returning the skin to its
natural state.

Is the process painful?

Our technology emits light in very short flashes called pulses. The impact of the
energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber
band. The area may feel similar to a slight sunburn for a day or so. It may appear
reddened for a few hours or in some cases, two to four weeks; then return to its
natural smooth colouring and texture.

How many sessions will it take to remove the pigmented lesion?

At least 80-90 percent of all common pigmented lesions are removed with one
treatment. Occasionally some lesions may require a second treatment.

Can the excess pigmentation come back?

Common pigmented lesions do not return. Some birthmarks may return after a
period of several months to a year. However, the procedure can be repeated with
similar results.

What type of post-treatment care is necessary?

An antibacterial ointment will be initially applied to the area. A shower can be
taken the next day, but avoid scrubbing the treated area. Since most common
pigmented lesions are caused by exposure to ultraviolet sun rays, it is important
that you wear sunscreen. Failure to wear a protective sunscreen will allow further
skin damage to occur and result in new pigmented lesions. We will recommend
the appropriate level of sunscreen for your specific type.
